CULVER CITY, CA (May 7, 2013) - Sony Pictures Entertainment has closed its deal with Shane Black to co-write and direct Doc Savage, and Black is eyeing it as his next film, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of Production for the studio. Black co-wrote the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, based on the hero of pulp novels, films, and comic books. Neal H. Moritz is producing the project with Ori Marmur through his Original Film banner.

CULVER CITY, CA (May 6, 2013) - The newly-restored, 50th Anniversary Directors Cut of David Lean's 1962 masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia took home the award for "Best Archive Restoration/Preservation Title" at the tenth FOCAL International Awards held May 2nd in London. The 4K restoration of the film was completed last year by Sony Pictures Entertainment under the direction of Grover Crisp, EVP of Asset Management, Film Restoration and Digital Mastering for SPE.

Culver City, Calif. - April 25, 2013 - A few months before the bones of Richard III were discovered below a parking lot in Leicester, England, the infamous British monarch was the focal point of a very different type of reclamation project halfway around the world in Culver City, California. There, Colorworks, Sony Pictures' digital intermediate facility, applied the finishing touches to an exhaustive 4K restoration of Richard III, Laurence Olivier's 1955 film adaptation of the Shakespeare play.

Overbrook Entertainment with Sony Pictures Entertainment have teamed up with GENERATOR - a leading provider of marketing and commerce solutions for the entertainment industry - to develop a 7-episode web series inspired by themes from the upcoming action movie After Earth, in theaters May 31.

CULVER CITY, CA and ZURICH, SWITZERLAND (April 23, 2013) - Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks and Dori Media Group (DMG) announced today that they have entered into an agreement for SPT Networks to acquire 50% of Televiva, DMG's telenovela channel in Indonesia.

Televiva, which offers viewers top quality first-run telenovelas dubbed into Bahasa Indonesia, is carried exclusively by Indovision, the nation's largest pay TV provider. The channel is popular among women ages 15 and over and boasts high viewership loyalty for its programming.

CULVER CITY, CA (April 22, 2013) - In advance of the nationwide release of After Earth, the highly anticipated film in theaters May 31, Columbia Pictures is teaming up with Google for a live "After Earth Day" Google+ Hangout tomorrow, April 23 - the day after Earth Day. The Google+ Hangout brings together some of the world's most renowned thinkers, inventors, authors, and futurists to discuss the film's themes and the future of our planet.

CULVER CITY, CA (April 22, 2013) - Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks today announced plans to launch getTV, a new US digital broadcast television network airing classic movies, in the fall of 2013. The third wholly owned Sony-branded channel in the US, getTV will premiere on the digital subchannels of Univision Television Group owned television stations. SPT is in active discussions with other stations groups in advance of launch. The announcement was made by Andy Kaplan, president, worldwide networks, SPT.

CULVER CITY, CA (April 17, 2013) - Pop icon Britney Spears will release a song for Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation's highly anticipated family comedy "The Smurfs™ 2", entitled "Ooh La La," via Kemosabe / RCA Records. "Ooh La La," which will play at the end credits of the film, was written by Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke), Joshua Coleman (Ammo), Henry Walter (Cirkut), Bonnie McKee, Jacob Kasher Hindlin (J Kash), Lola Blanc and Fransisca Hall and produced by Dr. Luke, Ammo and Cirkut for Prescription Songs.
