CULVER CITY, Calif., July 25, 2014 - Tom Rothman's TriStar Productions has acquired the worldwide rights and given the go ahead to Money Monster, a fast-paced, character-driven thriller written by Jamie Linden. Daniel Dubiecki, who worked with Clooney on Up in the Air, and Lara Alameddine developed the script along with Jodie Foster, who will direct the film. Dubiecki and Alameddine's The Allegiance Theater will produce together with Clooney and his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 23, 2014 - Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that Elizabeth Cantillon will transition from her position as Executive Vice President of Production for Columbia Pictures to a long-term, first-look producing deal with the studio. In this new role, Cantillon will utilize her vast experience and deep industry relationships to develop and produce films for the Columbia Pictures label.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 23, 2014 - Columbia Pictures today announced its updated release strategy for the nearly $4 billion Spider-Man franchise. The next film in the series will be Sinister Six, writer-director Drew Goddard's highly anticipated villain team-up, which is the first of several planned character and story expansions. The film, which will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, will hit theaters on November 11, 2016.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 22, 2014 - Jeff Blake, Vice Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and the studio's Chairman of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, announced today that he will leave Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) to pursue other opportunities effective August 1.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 22, 2014 - Sony Pictures Animation today announced that Jimmy Miller's Mosaic, and Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions will produce MANIMAL, a live-action/animated feature film that takes the concept of the cult television drama of the same title - a crime-fighter who can transform into animals - and reinvents it as an action-comedy. Original series co-creator Glen A. Larson will also produce. The feature is being written by Jay Martel & Ian Roberts.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 21, 2014 - Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that the studio has brought together an extraordinary number of iconic video game companies, whose classic characters - including PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Centipede&reg, Galaga, Frogger, Q*bert, and Space Invaders - will be featured in the highly-anticipated action comedy Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, and Brian Cox, and directed by Chris Columbus. The film will be released on May 15, 2015.

CULVER CITY, Calif., June 12, 2014 - Tom Rothman's TriStar Productions has closed a preemptive deal for Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo's new comedy. Based on their original idea, the film is also intended as a directing debut for Wiig. Story details and title are being kept under wrap, but Wiig and Mumolo will write and star as best friends who find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths, which were, perhaps, not too deep to begin with.

CULVER CITY, Calif., June 10, 2014 - Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marza Animation Planet, a CG animation film production company of the SEGA SAMMY Group, today announced a partnership to develop a film based on the acclaimed Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. A hybrid CG-animated/live-action feature, the movie will be written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux and produced by Neal H. Moritz through his Original Film banner, along with Marza's Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi. Toby Ascher will serve as an executive producer.

CULVER CITY, Calif. (June 5, 2014) - Sony Pictures Entertainment will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its blockbuster franchise Ghostbusters with a series of special events and home entertainment releases. As a highlight of the celebration, the original 1984 film has been restored and remastered in 4K and will be returning to the big screen, in over 700 locations in the United States and Canada, for a limited engagement starting August 29 (Labor Day weekend).
