We wanted to give everyone an update on Sony’s $100 million COVID-19 Global Relief Fund and SPE’s targeted efforts to date to support those in the entertainment industry, which has been severely impacted by this crisis.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility team has worked closely with Sony HQ in Tokyo, SPE partners and our own leaders internally to determine the best path forward for distributing funds in the entertainment space. Together, we have carefully considered where these funds will have the most meaningful impact and whether the organizations are equipped to effectively handle making distributions on a large scale. We also looked across the recipient organizations to see if they would help support and represent diverse voices in the entertainment community.
In addition to the organizations that will be receiving funds through our employee match program, which we announced last month, the following organizations will be receiving grants from SPE’s portion of the Sony Global Relief Fund:
- Actors Fund COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund
- Motion Picture Television Fund COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund
- SAG-AFTRA Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund
- Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers COVID-19 Emergency Grant Fund
- Sundance Institute
- Film Independent
- Independent Filmmakers Project (IFP)
- Women in Film
SPE is proud to support these organizations during this difficult and unprecedented time. While these organizations are all U.S.-based, we are also exploring a number of international organizations.
We will continue to provide updates regarding SPE’s efforts – and the efforts of our Sony sister companies – through Sony’s $100 million COVID-19 Global Relief Fund.
