Jill Ratner
Executive Vice President, General Counsel
Jill Ratner serves as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Sony Pictures Entertainment. In this role, she provides legal advice to the senior management team and oversees all of SPE’s Legal functions, Compliance and Labor Relations, SPE Music Affairs, Government/External Affairs, and Corporate Social Responsibility teams.
Prior to joining Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2024, Ratner served as Deputy General Counsel at the Walt Disney Company where she was responsible for Disney’s Litigation, Intellectual Property, and Digital Antipiracy functions on a global scale. She also led legal support for the company’s Social Responsibility operations and acted as executive sponsor for Disney Pro-Bono Council.
Before joining Disney, Ratner was at 21st Century Fox from 2004 to 2019 where she served as Executive Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. At Fox, she led global Litigation, Employment, Privacy and Content Protection legal teams in support of the worldwide operations of 21st Century Fox. Ratner also helped steer the company through the sale of most of 21st Century Fox’s assets to Disney.
Prior to her time at Fox, Ratner served as Domestic Counsel at the Motion Picture Association, and as a litigation associate at Hogan Lovells LLP and at Hill Wynne Troop & Meisinger.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ratner is actively involved in her community, serving on the Los Angeles Regional Board of Directors for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and previously co-chairing the ADL's annual Entertainment Industry events.
Ratner graduated magna cum laude from UCLA where she played on the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer team, and she holds a law degree from UC Law San Francisco.
