Zendaya to produce, alongside Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, and star in psychological thriller inspired by the remarkable true story about the first African-American woman to attend Vassar College

Los Angeles, Jan. 24, 2018 - In a competitive deal, TriStar Pictures beat out six buyers for worldwide rights to psychological thriller A White Lie, adapted from Karin Tanabe's critically-acclaimed novel The Gilded Years, which will star Zendaya. Inspired by the true story of the first African-American woman to attend Vassar College captured in Karin Tanabe's critically-acclaimed novel The Gilded Years, A White Lie reimagines the story of Anita Hemmings who passed as white to attend the country's most exclusive school for women.

"Monica, Zendaya, Lauren and Reese have developed a bold and original approach to Anita's story that explores complex and timely themes in a way that is sure to thrill audiences." said Hannah Minghella, President of TriStar Pictures.

"We are excited to make this movie alongside a dream team of extraordinary women who have inspired Reese and me from the moment we all came together," said Lauren Levy Neustadter. "TriStar's passion for telling this story makes them the ideal partner for this project."

Hannah Minghella and Nicole Brown will oversee the project for TriStar Pictures.
