CULVER CITY, Calif., March 30, 2015 - Sony Pictures Entertainment has named John Restall as executive vice president, Domestic Marketing Research, it was announced today by Dwight Caines, president, Theatrical Marketing for Sony Pictures. In his new role, Restall will report to Caines as he oversees all domestic theatrical market research efforts for the studio's marketing department, helping to shape and manage the studio's messaging for all films. Restall will collaborate closely with his international research counterparts, who report to Michael Horn, president of International Marketing for the studio.

Restall joins Sony Pictures from the research firm Nielsen NRG, where, as SVP, Client Consulting, he served as the lead account representative for several of the firm's studio clients, overseeing the design, analysis and management of ad testing, tracking, screenings, positioning studies, brand studies, exit polls, and focus groups. An attorney by training, Restall also previously served in Research Analysis at MarketCast.

Commenting on the announcement, Caines said, "John has deep understanding of market research, which, combined with his experience and position at NRG, have given him incredible insight into the best practices across the industry. That's a huge win for our studio. He's uniquely qualified and the best possible candidate to step in to oversee our domestic research group."
