Angela Galgani Is Promoted To Senior Vice President, Publicity For Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution

CULVER CITY, CA (November 29, 2011) - Angela Galgani has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Publicity for Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution, it was announced today by Andre Caraco, Executive Vice President of Motion Picture Publicity, to whom she will report. Galgani assumes the day-to-day duties running the New York publicity office previously held by Gigi Semone, who left the studio in September to pursue other opportunities.

In her new role, Galgani will work closely with her Los Angeles-based colleagues as she oversees the New York-based publicity staff and develops East Coast-based PR campaigns for all Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation releases. She is currently working on campaigns for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, 21 Jump Street, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Men in Black 3, I Hate You Dad, and The Amazing Spider-Man, among others.

Commenting on the announcement, Caraco said, "I've known Angela since she started here as an intern and I've been fortunate to watch her develop her skills and grow into a respected publicist and executive. Not only am I proud to recognize her success with this well-deserved promotion, but I'm glad that we will continue to be working together every day, shaping the publicity strategies for our film releases."

Galgani first joined Sony Pictures in May 1997 as an intern, working on such films as My Best Friend's Wedding, Men in Black, Air Force One, and As Good As It Gets. After graduating from Fordham University in 1998, she joined the studio full time as an assistant, later rising through the ranks to become a manager, director, executive director, and vice president of publicity, handling specialty press, online, and print magazines. Among the many publicity campaigns she has worked on include the three Spider-Man films, The Social Network, Big Fish, Big Daddy, Hitch, The Smurfs, District 9, Julie & Julia, The Da Vinci Code, Mr. Deeds, Stuart Little, 2012, Charlie's Angels, Ali, Something's Gotta Give, Bad Teacher, Quantum of Solace, Moneyball, Ides of March, Casino Royale, Super Bad, Just Go With It, and Salt.
