Chris Hemsworth Attached To Star In "Shadow Runner" For Columbia Pictures
CULVER CITY, Calif., June 29, 2011 Chris Hemsworth is attached to star in Columbia Pictures' Shadow Runner, it was announced today by Hannah Minghella, president of Production for Columbia Pictures. The forthcoming motion picture will be produced by Tripp Vinson and Beau Flynn of Contrafilms, and Will Ward of ROAR. The film is based on an original idea by Hossein Amini, who will executive produce the project.
Shadow Runner's plot is being kept under wraps.
Commenting on the announcement, Minghella said, "We think this story is a terrific action thriller for Chris Hemsworth and we know this project in is great hands with Tripp, Beau, and Will as they develop the film."
Minghella, Rachel O'Connor and Adam Milano will oversee the project for Columbia Pictures.
CHRIS HEMSWORTH may currently be seen in the title role of the worldwide hit Thor; he will reprise his role in Marvel Studios' The Avengers. Upcoming roles for Hemsworth include ContraFilm's remake of Red Dawn; the Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard-scripted Cabin in the Woods; and Snow White and the Huntsman, opposite Kristen Stewart. The Australian actor made his US film debut in Star Trek as George Kirk.
BEAU FLYNN and TRIPP VINSON launched their production company, Contrafilm, in March 2004. Since the company's inception, Contrafilm has produced films that have earned more than $720 million at the worldwide box office. HOSSEIN AMINI was honored with Academy Award®, BAFTA, and WGA nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on The Wings of the Dove. Other key credits for the talented writer include, most recently, Drive, starring Ryan Gosling, 'Dying of the Light,' which was nominated for the BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama, Jude, The Four Feathers, and Killshot, among others. His upcoming work includes the screenplays to 47 Ronin and Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Hemsworth.
