Marisa Mcgrath Promoted To Senior Vice President, National Theatrical Publicity, For Sony Pictures

CULVER CITY, Calif., November 18, 2009 - Marisa McGrath has been promoted to Senior Vice President of National Theatrical Publicity, it was announced today by Andre Caraco, Executive Vice President of Motion Picture Publicity for Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution.

McGrath, who reports to Caraco, most recently oversaw successful publicity campaigns for such hit films as Zombieland, Julie and Julia, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, and the blockbuster 2012, which opened to $230 million worldwide last week. The promotion recognizes her leadership on those campaigns and she will continue to play a key role in orchestrating and overseeing the national launch of several films each year. McGrath will oversee one of two PR teams guiding releases from Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation and select acquisitions.

McGrath began her career in 1994 at Jonas Public Relations, where she worked on such hit television series as "Seinfeld" and "Just Shoot Me" and assisted in representing Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Spade, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller, and Bill Maher. Moving to Baker-Winoker-Ryder in 1997, she represented such actors as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Garner, Casey Affleck, David Spade, and Ryan Reynolds, among others.

She joined the Publicity department at 20th Century Fox as senior publicist in 2001, working on the campaigns for Moulin Rouge! and Ice Age, before segueing to Sony Pictures Publicity later that year. Since then, as she has been promoted to executive director, vice president, and now senior vice president, and has overseen campaigns for such films as Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, The Da Vinci Code, Superbad, Pineapple Express, and Talladega Nights, among others. She is currently working on upcoming films including The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen, and Salt starring Angelina Jolie.
